Your first visit

A placement visit is a short time in the water with an instructor, so we can suggest a level before your swimmer joins a class.

  1. 01

    Step 1: Book a time

Choose a placement time on our enrollment page, or call the front desk. Tell us your swimmer's age and the level you think fits, or tell us you are not sure.

  2. 02

Step 2: Get in with an instructor

Your swimmer gets in on the steps or within reach of the instructor while you watch from the deck or the bench. The visit is short, and a swimmer can get out at any time.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Hear the level

The instructor suggests a level and a cap color, tells you what they noticed, and shows you the classes with room on the schedule.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Pick a class

Register at the front desk or from home. Your swimmer's file and the first month of tuition hold the place.

  5. 05

Step 5: Come to the first class

Arrive a few minutes early, rinse, put on the cap and sit on the bench until the instructor calls the level.

In the water

What the instructor looks at

There are no right answers at a placement visit. The instructor watches how a swimmer gets in, floats with support, kicks and puts a face in the water, and picks the level where the first class will fit.

  • Floating with support

  • Kicking and moving along the wall

  • Blowing bubbles

Bring

What to bring to the visit

  • A towel

One for your swimmer, and a dry one for the ride home.

  • Goggles

If your swimmer likes them. We have a few pairs to try.

  • A swimsuit or swim shirt

Swim shirts are welcome in every class, with a swimsuit under one if you like.

  • A grown-up

A parent or guardian stays at the pool. Brothers and sisters can wait on the bench.
