Questions families ask

How is my swimmer placed in a level?

At a placement visit, a short time in the water with an instructor. The instructor suggests a level and a cap color, and you pick a class from the schedule.

What is a level?

A level is a set of skills, from blowing bubbles to linking two strokes, with a cap color so everyone at the pool can see which class is which. Ages are a guide, and the instructor decides when a swimmer moves up.

How long is a class?

Bubbles and Floats classes last half an hour. The other three levels last forty-five minutes. A session runs eight weeks.

What do we bring, and what should my swimmer wear?

A towel, goggles if your swimmer likes them, and a swimsuit or a swim shirt. We ask every swimmer to wear a cap in the level's color for a lesson. Swim shirts are welcome in every class, and long hair is tied back.

Where do I watch?

From the benches on the deck or in the lobby, by the glass. A parent or guardian stays on site during every class.

Who is in the water with my swimmer?

An instructor, in the water or on the step beside every swimmer. The number of swimmers each instructor has in each level is on our safety page.

What happens if we miss a class, or the pool closes?

A missed class can be made up in another class at the same level within the session, space allowing. When the pool closes for weather or repairs, the class is made up too.

How does tuition work?

Tuition depends on the level, the class length and the classes a week. Our figures are on the enrollment page, and how billing, registration and make-ups work is on the tuition page.

Who can come to open swim?

Members, on Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Younger swimmers come with an adult who stays on the deck. Open swim is play, not a lesson.

How does a birthday party work?

Parties are on Sunday afternoons. We open the pool and lead the games in the water, and the adults from the party stay on the deck with the cake.
